Retention Pond Seeding

Earthcraft Companies restored vegetation to a disturbed retention pond at Grove City Nazarene Church in Grove City, Ohio, using a site-specific hydroseed mix to stabilize the bank and get the pond back to fully functioning condition as quickly as possible following an excavation project.

The Challenge

An excavation project had disturbed the vegetation along the retention pond bank, leaving the soil exposed and the pond vulnerable to erosion and sediment runoff. Retention ponds require established vegetation to function properly - without it, the bank is unstable and the pond's ability to manage stormwater is compromised. Reestablishing that vegetation quickly was critical to restoring the site and preventing further degradation of the pond.

What We Did

Earthcraft applied a site-specific hydroseed mix formulated for retention pond environments - a critical detail, since pond banks require seed varieties that can handle fluctuating moisture levels and establish quickly on slopes. Using hydroseeding allowed us to cover the full disturbed area in a single application.
