Misc site prep

Earthcraft Companies completed a lot extension project for the City of Hilliard, Ohio, transforming an uneven, unusable area into a stable, well-drained gravel yard capable of supporting heavy municipal equipment and trucks.
The Challenge
The City of Hilliard needed to expand their equipment yard to accommodate more trailers and heavy equipment, but the adjacent area was uneven and sitting lower than the surrounding lot. The grade issues meant water would collect and the surface would not hold up under the weight of heavy municipal vehicles without proper preparation and base material. The city needed a cost-effective site prep solution that would deliver a functional, long-lasting surface without a full paving project.
What We Did
Earthcraft brought in a bulldozer to grade the existing dirt and establish a level, stable base across the full extension area. Once the subgrade was set, we hauled in and spread 100 tons of base gravel over the entire lot, compacting it to create a solid, load-bearing surface for heavy equipment. The finished grade was designed to shed water off the lot, preventing pooling and keeping the yard usable year-round regardless of weather conditions.
The Result
The City of Hilliard gained a sizeable, functional addition to their equipment yard - stable, well-drained, and built to handle the daily demands of heavy municipal trucks and trailers. The gravel lot extension gave the city the extra capacity they needed at a fraction of the cost of a paved surface, without sacrificing performance or longevity.
